A Call to Get Involved!

Last night the ladies of Social Esquire attended an Obama Rally at The News Lounge in Miami.  The purpose is to rally Obama supporters and encourage everyone to personally contribute to the campaign process.  As I sat there and listened to the call, I realized that I made very little personal effort in 2008.  Yes, Social Esquire hosted a debate party and poll watching party, and I attended various Obama rallies.  However, I gave very little money toward the campaign. I did not volunteer my time at phone banks, voting polls, toward registering people to vote, or in any other manner.  So last night I decided that I would commit more of my time and effort toward the Obama 2012 campaign.

This year’s election is just as important, if not, more than the 2008 election. The hype of having the first black president is gone. So I truly believe that we will not have the same record number of people going to the polls.  So, the little that I did in 2008 will not suffice for this year.  I have to commit more money, more time, and more effort toward the campaign, and I encourage that you do the same.

There are Obama rallies going on in different counties in your state.  Find out and get involved.  Invite friends and family to attend, and they should in turn invite others.  Hosts events at your house with your friends in an effort to raise money.  Every dollar counts.  Many of you are having parties during this Sunday’s Superbowl.  Ask your guests to donate money toward the Obama campaign.  Get creative and personally match the amount that’s in the donation pool if your team wins. Ask your neighbors and people that you encounter if they are registered to vote and educate people on Obama’s accomplishments.  These are just a few suggestions. There are countless ways to get involved. Now is the time!
