The Brunch Bunch! 660 at The Angler’s, South Beach!

Published on March 14th, 2010

The brunch bunch was in full affect yesterday!  The location was 660 at The Angler’s!  I am still in recovery mode!  Who ever thought of the champagne bar was a GENIUS!  $14 and all you can drink mimosas, and we’re not just talking the basics!  We’re talking about champagne with House made Peach Puree, House made Strawberry Puree, Freshly Squeezed Florida Orange Juice, Freshly Squeezed Florida Grapefruit Juice, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur, Fragoli Wild Strawberry Liqueur, and Sence Rose Nectar.  If champagne is not your thing, they also have a bottomless Bloody Mary Bar!

660 at The Angler’s is simply beautiful!  It’s really a hidden gem in South Beach.  You can dine inside or outside.  It’s Miami so the weather is one of the perks, so outside dining is a must.  They have set up a beautiful secluded area, which really adds to the dining experience.

The food is incredible!  Everything we ordered was SCRUMPTIOUS!  The challah french toast was divine, and the presentation was gorgeous.  The banana & Nutella pancakes are a masterpiece.  You would think this creation would be too sweet, but it is a perfect combination.  The steak and eggs are delicious, and I suggest you order the fries!

660 at The Angler’s is one of the best brunches I’ve ever had.  The prices are excellent, and the food is beyond good.  We were tempted to just make this the official brunch bunch spot, but then that would totally defeat the purpose!  LOL!  Brunch at 660 is an absolute must!

Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli

Banana & Nutella Pancakes

Serves 4

Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl, whisk, set aside:

2 cups flour

2 tbsp sugar

4 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp fine salt

Combine the wet ingredients in a second bowl, whisk:

2 cups buttermilk

1 cup whole milk

4 tbsp melted butter

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 beaten eggs

For the topping:

4 bananas

6 oz. Nutella

8 Strawberries or Blueberries (optional)

Preheat an electric griddle to 350 degrees.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry and whisk until just combined. Lightly butter the griddle. Wipe off thoroughly with a paper towel. (No butter should be visible.)

Gently ladle the pancake batter onto the griddle and place about 5-6 banana slices on the uncooked side. When bubbles begin to set around the edges of the pancake and the griddle-side of the cake is golden, gently flip the pancakes. Continue to cook 2 to 3 minutes or until the pancake is set.

Serve immediately layering Nutella in between the pancakes allowing it to warm. Garnish with fresh berries.
